This course explores the evolution of art from Impressionism to the early avant-garde movements, covering movements such as Post-Impressionism, Fauvism, Expressionism, Cubism and Futurism, as well as the historical and social contexts that gave rise to these new forms of artistic expression.
Through theory, image analysis, creative exercises and visits to exhibitions, participants will engage with the key works and artists of this period in a practical and dynamic way. The course aims to develop a critical and inquisitive eye, helping participants to understand the works beyond mere subjective judgement.
Rosa María Céspedes López holds a degree in Art History from the University of Granada and complemented her education with an Erasmus scholarship in Berlin, a Master’s degree in Teacher Training and a degree in Conservation and Restoration of Cultural Heritage. For nine years she worked at the Thyssen-Bornemisza National Museum, where she was involved in visitor services, content and events, taking part in projects aimed at raising awareness and bringing art to different audiences. She is currently a member of the International Department at Nebrija University, where she combines historical rigour with an approachable, dynamic and practical methodology to teach students how to observe, understand and enjoy art.
